The School Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

For the crust:

2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup powdered milk

2 tablespoons sugar

1 package quick-rise yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp)

1 teaspoon salt

1 2/3 cups warm water (110–115°F)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the sauce:

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

For the topping:

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Pepperoni slices or other toppings of choice

Instructions

1. Make the dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, powdered milk, sugar, yeast, and salt.

Add warm water and vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 20–30 minutes until doubled in size.

2. Prepare the sauce:

In a small saucepan, combine tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, and pepper.

Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.

3. Assemble the pizza:

Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).

Roll dough out to fit a greased half-sheet pan (about 18×13 inches).

Spread sauce evenly over the crust.

Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.

Add pepperoni or desired toppings.

4. Bake:

Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing into squares — just like in the school cafeteria.
