Baking Soda and Vinegar Fireworks

Materials Needed (Enough for multiple mini “fireworks”):

– Baking soda (1–2 cups)

– White vinegar (1–2 cups)

– Liquid watercolors or food coloring (red, blue, yellow, etc.)

– Pipettes, droppers, or small spoons

– Muffin tin, plastic tray, or baking sheet

– Optional: black construction paper (for firework-style paper fizz art)

– Optional: glitter or biodegradable confetti

Directions:

1. Set the Stage:

Sprinkle a generous layer of baking soda across a tray or into muffin tin wells.

If doing fireworks on paper, place black construction paper in a tray and cover lightly with baking soda.

2. Color the Vinegar:

Divide vinegar into small cups and mix with different food coloring or liquid watercolors to create vibrant “firework fuel.”

3. Fireworks Time!

Use pipettes or droppers to squirt the colored vinegar onto the baking soda.

Watch the colorful fizzing explosions bubble and foam like mini fireworks!

Keep adding drops in different colors and spots for layered firework effects.

4. Optional Effects:

Sprinkle with glitter or star confetti during the fizz for extra sparkle.

For art, let the paper dry after the reaction for a firework splatter painting!
