2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp cornstarch

For the Stir-Fry

2 medium onions, thinly sliced

2 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp dark soy sauce (optional, for color)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp cooking oil (vegetable or peanut oil)

¼ cup water or beef broth

½ tsp sugar (optional, balances flavors)

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, mix beef slices with soy sauce and cornstarch.

Let rest for 15–20 minutes to tenderize.

2. Cook the Beef

Heat a wok or skillet over high heat, add oil.

Stir-fry beef quickly (about 2–3 minutes) until browned but not overcooked. Remove and set aside.

3. Cook the Onions

In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.

Stir-fry onions until soft and lightly caramelized (about 3–4 minutes).

Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

4. Combine & Sauce

Return beef to the pan.

Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, dark soy sauce (if using), water/broth, and sugar.

Toss everything together until beef and onions are well coated and heated through.

5. Finish & Serve

Sprinkle with black pepper and garnish with green onions.

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
